More about my style and my therapeutic orientation:
My current therapeutic orientation reflects a eclectic client-centered focus. As part of that focus I draw upon the theory and techniques of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, as well as Psychodynamic and Humanistic approaches.
Extensive research has shown that what we think has a direct effect on our emotions and our behavior, and one of my goals is to help you become aware of this dynamic process. In other words, it is my belief that what we think affects what we feel - so if we can start to change our thoughts - we can change the way we feel. I also have a growing interest in Mindfulness and Radical Acceptance and have started to incorporate these ideas and skills into my work.
I abide by the American Counseling Association code of ethics, the American Mental Health Counselors Association, and the Oregon Mental Health Counseling Association.
